The 40th release on Balanced Records revisits the label’s early ambient directions while carving out a new sonic path forward. Swedish sound designer, Skyscaper (not to be confused with skyscraper) creates layered and textured soundscapes in Noctilucent Clouds that are clearly matched to the spatial and atmospheric themes he explores as an artist. Label manager Kasm takes the title track to new depths with gorgeous melodic sketches, abstract beats and the rich distinctive vocals of SuhniSea. Geocorona offers a minimal dubby techno feel with subtle, punctuated percussive flares overtop cosmic background noise.
