Equanim 
Steve Boyd does not fail to surprise and innovate. As Equanim, he has developed a musical duality as both instrumentalist and MC. With his classical and jazz training he now merges his nu school knowledge of beats delving into exploratory and unchartered progressions. He is a Balanced original and has always contributed in a prolific way to the label's musical path. Finding himself restless with styles, his music ranges from conscious, playful hip-hop to abstract funk and deep ambient substrata. His first solo release Instrumental Language attracted praise by the both jazz and electronic headz and was nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for 'Outstanding Instrumental Recording' in 2003. He is deserving of the mention, and as he puts it "...my next s**t will be beyond what you heard before". So Equanim continues to carve his unique non linear path of harmonies, rhythms and reflections. Discography
